A family kitchen on Acharavi beach in the north of Corfu. Greek classics, homemade, from the first coffee of the morning to the last cocktail after sunset.
The place
On the sand, under the parasols
Faros sits right on the beach at Acharavi, where the wide bay of north Corfu looks across the water to the mountains of Albania. Walk off the sand, up three steps, and you are at your table.
The kitchen cooks Greek dishes and international favourites, all homemade. Come for a full breakfast with your feet still sandy, stay for lunch in the shade, and end the day with a drink while the light goes orange over the water.
Nothing here is hurried. That is rather the point.

One kitchen, one long day. Breakfast turns into brunch, brunch into lunch, and by evening the grill is on.

Full English or continental, avocado toast, village omelettes, pancakes both sweet and savoury, Greek yoghurt with honey and nuts.

Stifado, sofrito, corfiot pastitsada, moussaka, lamb exochiko from the oven and gyros off the spit.

Lamb chops and fillet steak from the grill, whole sea bass and bream, grilled octopus, prawns with garlic and a seafood plate to share.

Stay for the sunset
Acharavi looks out across the channel to the mountains of Albania, and towards evening the light comes off the water and turns everything orange.
Order something cold, order something to pick at, and let dinner wait half an hour. It is the best table in the house and it costs nothing extra.

Ippocrates Apartments, a minute along the beach
A small, quiet complex of apartments run by the same family. Step off your terrace and you are almost on the sand. Rooms are freshly furnished, each with a balcony and seating, and guests are welcome at the swimming pool all day.
